About me:
To start, I'm a team leader in the army and loving almost every minute of it. I have a lot of job satisfaction and the military has helped me change a lot. Before I joined I was an angry kid, socially outcast and somewhat melodramatic, irresponsible, pretentious and weak. Now, I'm usually high-energy, happy and excitable. I work hard and and am a professional above all else. I still have a weird sense of humour but it's a lot more gentle now than it was. I'm also still fairly shy at heart, but I push myself to be a "people person" because I got tired of being a wallflower. I love swing and lounge music, and no matter what time of year it is, I'd rather it was winter.
I don't like talking about politics because people tend to get too heated over those types of discussions - and besides, people tend to be set in their ways. A simple chat won't change their mind, especially if you confuse the issue with facts. Also, I've spent so many years arguing the devil's advocate's perspective that I'm not sure where I stand on many issues - and I don't care enough to figure out my own stances.
Really I just wish people would chill out and be nice to one another. Maybe we could actually get somewhere as a race if people were more laid back instead of always trying to kill one another.
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd like to meet Elwood P. Dowd, Jimmy Stewart's character in "Harvey." A gentle eccentric with a great philosophy on life: "Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, 'In this world, Elwood, you must be' - she always called me Elwood - 'In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.' Music:
A little of everything, but especially mellow stuff like Train or Alice in Chains. I can name almost as many classical composers as modern bands as well. Music is very important to me, and there are only some kinds that I don't like, like rap. Nothing against anyone who like it, it's just not my kind of thing.
Movies:
The only use I have for my TV is my Nintendo. I am not really interested in TV or movies. I can look at something and say, 'You know, I bet that's something I'd really enjoy.' but I won't watch it. Movies just aren't interactive enough for me and I get bored watching them. As far as genres go, I prefer comedies and dramas to anything else. I haven't really enjoyed any war movies since my first tour in Iraq.
